Introducing Opening Worlds
From September 2023, we will be introducing a new curriculum for History, Geography and RE in years 3, 4 and 5. The curriculum focuses on the development of vocabulary and reading to present an engaging and varied way of learning in these subjects. We will have one 90 minute lesson a week in each subject, focusing on introducing a highly sequenced range of vocabulary. The programme comes with images and booklets to explain the subjects through story.
An outcome of each lesson will be high quality storytelling and written explanations.
To ensure that we maintain the local and practical elements of our existing Geography curriculum, we will continue to engage in termly field trips across Key Stage 2.
