Who are ELAN?

Our current consultation process has two elements.  Firstly, we are consulting on the proposal that the school leaves local authority control and becomes an Academy.  Secondly, we are consulting on the proposal that when we become an Academy, we then join with a group of schools locally as part of the ELAN Multi Academy Trust.

ELAN (Extended Learning Academy Network) consists of a number of primary schools, all based in Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding area, that converted to academy status in 2017 and grouped together to form a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).  The original schools within the group have all been judged to be 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.  The MAT has since expanded and has taken on a school within the Requires Improvement Ofsted category.

As well as a number of primary schools, the MAT includes a teaching school - a school who are considered to be Outstanding by Ofsted and who lead learning of teachers and other staff.

On 16th March 2021, representatives from ELAN, including the Chief Executive Officer, Adam Matthews, and the Chair of Trustees, Ian Kilpatrick, attended two consultation meetings with parents from Banwell Primary School via Zoom.  The slides from the presentation are available below.
